GCAG Notes December 3, 2025

Mark your calendars!
Our December Membership Meeting is just around the corner—Tuesday, December 9 at 2pm, held at the GCAG Studio, 211 N Texas. Doors open at 1:30pm for those who’d like to come early, mingle, and enjoy some pre-meeting social time.

This will be our final meeting in the current Studio. We’re excited to share that on January 1, we’ll officially move into our new home in the Blue Dome (at the corner of Yankee and Texas—only half a block away!). The new space has much better acoustics, so if you’ve struggled to hear during meetings, things should be noticeably improved in 2026.

If you have agenda items, or art news/opportunities to share, please send them to Jo Thomas,  jothomas154@gmail.com, by Sunday, Dec 7. As always, you’re welcome to make announcements during the meeting as well.

Last Weekend of the Spirit(s) Show

Don’t miss the final weekend!
Friday: 10am–7pm
Saturday & Sunday: 10am–5pm

If you have artwork in the show—or have purchased a piece—you may pick it up after 5pm on Sunday, Dec 7, or during art pick-up on Monday, Dec 8, from 10am–1pm.
No early pickups will be allowed. Someone will be at the Studio on Sunday until everyone who arrives to pick up their work has done so.

First Friday — December 5, 5–7pm

  • At the GCAG Gallery, snap some fun selfies with a Santa cutout painted by Gay Scheibl.
  • At the GCAG Studio, join us for a 5–7pm reception celebrating the Spirit(s) show.
If you’d like to bring finger foods or sweets to either spot, they’ll be warmly welcomed!

Silver High School Art Exhibition

GCAG Studio
Dec 13–14 & Dec 20–21 | 10am–5pm

This exhibition is an important part of our nonprofit community outreach, and we’re thrilled to host these young artists.

Opening Reception: Friday, Dec 12, 4–7pm
(Note the earlier start time so teachers can attend right after school.)
Guild members are strongly encouraged to come—these students are so excited to have a “real” art reception, and your presence makes a huge difference. Let’s show them how much our art community supports them!

We’ll need volunteers to help staff the High School show. If you’re interested in working a shift, please contact Marsha Banas at marbanas14@me.com. No gallery training is required since nothing will be for sale.
